O que se vai escrevendo lá fora
O João Possante chamou-me a atenção para este editorial do New York Times de ontem, que analisa não só os problemas gerados por um projectado inspector geral para controlar os juízes federais como o descontrolo judicial no sistema de auto-controlo vigente.
Entretanto, quando fui procurar o link do texto que o João me indicou não pude deixar de parar no editorial da edição de hoje sobre o caso, já abordado no Sine Die aqui, de Ayaan Hirsi Ali. O texto que pode ser lido aqui, com o título «uma vitória para a intolerância na Holanda», inicia-se assim: «Immigration is a political mess in America, but it's reasonably tractable compared with the problem in the Netherlands, which has seen its liberal values turned inside out by tensions between Muslim immigrants and the Dutch. The question, broadly speaking, is whether multiculturalism is possible in such a small, ethnically homogeneous nation, or whether the government will keep insisting on assimilation».
